Top 10 tips to stopping the spread of flu at school – keeping school hygiene
Children can be so blissfully unaware of how easily germs and bacteria are spread that they often don’t realise the real importance of washing their hands properly – after using the bathroom, before meals and particularly when they are coughing and sneezing regularly.
- Make sure they have a good supply of clean tissues to hand so they never run out and that they know to use a new tissue each time they need one. You can get them with coloured patterns or characters so they are more fun to use.
- Show your child or children how to use a tissue properly so that it covers their nose and mouth whenever they cough or sneeze.
- Make sure they know the importance of putting their used tissues in the bin immediately and then washing their hands thoroughly afterwards.
- Speak to your child’s school about whether they can talk to the children about the importance of hygiene in assembly.
